ASSYRIAN-CHALDEAN-SYRIAC ANCESTRY

People of Assyrian, Chaldean and Syriac ancestry trace their roots to Mideastern regions that are now part of Iraq, Iran, Syria, Turkey and Lebanon. Early immigrants were sent by American missionaries in the 1880s to train for missionary work. In recent decades, Assyrians have come to the U.S. to escape violence and warfare at home.

ePodunk mapped the top Assyrian-Chaldean-Syriac communities in the U.S. by percentage of population. The map and the following list show communities in which 1,000 or more people listed an ancestry group, and in which at least 1 percent of those people said they were of Assyrian-Chaldean-Syriac ancestry.
