Colorado City is on the Utah border.

When the Mormon Church banned polygamy, a number of opponents to the change moved here. In 1953, state officials raided local homes, arresting alleged polygamists and placing more than 200 children in foster care. The polygamy charges eventually were dropped and the families reunited. The town continues to function as the country's largest polygamous community.

Crime: The number of violent crimes recorded by the FBI in 2003 was 1. The number of murders and homicides was 0. The violent crime rate was 0.3 per 1,000 people.
