Profile for Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, PA

According to local tradition, George Washington attempted to have squatters ousted from his property here; the justice of the peace ruled in favor of the squatters and fined Washington for swearing in court.

The borough was incorporated in February of 1802.

Jefferson College was located here from the 1790s to 1865, when it merged with Washington College. For a time, it was one of the biggest college's in the state.

Well-known residents have included:
