Bounded by 4th Avenue, Flatbush Avenue and Prospect Park West
Grew with the completion of the Brooklyn Bridge in 1883
Park Slope received national attention for the midair collision of two passenger planes. One crashed at Staten Island; the other stayed in the air for several minutes before crashing into Sterling Place and Seventh Avenue. Eighty-six people on board and six people on the ground died.
