North Haven is one of the Fox Islands in Penobscot Bay.

Much of the land is owned by affluent seasonal residents. Many year-rounders make their living by boat building and lobstering.

North Haven received national attention for the 1957 arrest of Ferdinand Demara Jr., known as the "Great Imposter." Demara's many poses included stints as a physician, zoologist, deputy sheriff and teacher.
