Bellevue is on Meydenbauer Bay.

The first non-native inhabitants arrived in the area in the late 1860s.

Farms and a few mills made up the majority of community at the end of the 19th century.

Bellevue was a berry-growing center at the beginning of the 20th century.

In 1939, the first bridge spanning Lake Washington was opened, helping to spur development.

In 1953, Bellevue incorporated, as a city.
