Bothell is a city in King County, in the Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue metro area. (The community straddles King and Snohomish counties; ePodunk links to the county with the greater share of population.)
The community was named after David Bothell, mill owner.

It is in the Pacific Standard time zone. Elevation is 75 feet.The estimated population, in 2003, was 30,568.
Bothell incorporated in 1909, the same time that agriculture began to dominate the local economy.
The Sammamish River was straightened and deepened, in the 1910s, to help prevent flooding.
With the arrival of the Lake Washington Shipping Canal in 1917, and the subsequent lowering of Lake Washington's water level, the cantankerous Sammaish River was no longer a problem.
The University of Washington opened a campus in Bothell in 1990.
The community doubled in size in the 1990s, when it annexed Canyon Park.
In 2006, UW Bothell became a fully functioning university when it welcomed its first freshman class.
