Also known as "The Park"

In the late 19th century, the area was logged, especially that closest to the lake.

In 1910, after most of the oldest trees in the area had been logged, residential development began under the auspice of Ole Hanson.

The community incorporated, as a city, in 1961. The change gave citizens more say and control of the chaotic post-war developments.

Crime: The number of violent crimes recorded by the FBI in 2003 was 9. The number of murders and homicides was 0. The violent crime rate was 0.7 per 1,000 people.
