Normandy Park is on Puget Sound.

The building of Normandy Park started in the late 1920s as a planned residential community that had rigid construction rules.

The 1930s and the hard times of the Great Depression were difficult for the community. Construction halted and the ownership of the property was dispersed to many individuals.

However, in the 1940s and 1950s, the community became popular. Normandy Park incorporated, as a city, in 1953.

Crime: The number of violent crimes recorded by the FBI in 2003 was 3. The number of murders and homicides was 0. The violent crime rate was 0.5 per 1,000 people.
