Send us your Dorchester photos:
Dorchester is a neighborhood of Boston. Elevation is 128 feet.
For over 200 years, the community remained agriculturally focused.
The arrival of the railroad, first in 1835, and streetcars, in 1856, changed the area greatly, making it more densely settled.
Following World War II, the area suffered from mass exodus to the suburbs.
The community was annexed by the city of Boston in 1870.
