Springdale is just to the south of Zion National Park.

Mormon settlers, following the instructions of Brigham Young, came to the area in the early 1860s.

Early settlers relied heavily on nearby Rockville for basic services in the 19th century.

In 1920, with the creation of what would become Zion National Park, the community began to change, attracting tourists and tourist-related businesses.
