When a railroad line bypassed the community by one mile, in 1902, local merchants led the movement to move Celina to the railroad. Five years later, in 1907, Celina incorporated.

Celina is a small town that's crazy about its high school football team. Celina High School has won seven state championships, tying it for tops all-time in the state. The 2002 team was featured in a documentary, "Power, Passion & Glory: The Real Story of Texas Football Madness."

Crime: The number of violent crimes recorded by the FBI in 2003 was 9. The number of murders and homicides was 0. The violent crime rate was 4.1 per 1,000 people.
