Cisco received national attention for the Santa Claus bank robbery on Dec. 23, 1927, when four men held up the First National Bank. One man, wearing a Santa Claus suit, filled a sack with money while his partners held guns on the tellers. The police chief and his deputy were killed in a shootout after the holdup. One robber died of wounds; one was executed; one served a prison term; and the fourth was lynched by an angry mob
