Born on the Fourth of July, 1904, with the arrival of the first train on the St. Louis, Brownsville and Mexico Railroad

Site of headquarters for the sprawling King Ranch, founded by Capt. Richard King in 1853. In the years since, the ranch has produced two major American beef breeds and a line of race horses
