Profile for Solomons, Maryland, MD

Solomons is on Solomons Island, at the confluence of the Patuxent River and the Chesapeake Bay.

Prospered after the Civil War as a center for oyster processing and the building and repair of oystering vessels.

The island became less isolated with construction of the Gov. Thomas Johnson Bridge in 1977.
