Profile for Bean Station, Tennessee, TN

In late 1863, a Civil War battle was fought at Bean Station. It lasted three days. Almost 300 soldiers were killed.

The Tate Springs Resort, numbering over 30 buildings and with a guest list that included Fords and Rockefellers, operated in Bean Station at the beginning of the 20th century.

Nearby Cherokee Lake was created in 1940, when the Holston River was dammed.

The community was incorporated in 1996, over 200 years after the arrival of its first settlers.
