Cazenovia is on Cazenovia Lake.

Once a stagecoach stop for travelers on the western turnpike.

During early days of the settlement, two brothers named Bumpus fought a bear near here, in Chittenango Creek. They avoided serious injury by stuffing the bear's mouth with stones.

The community develeloped as an affluent commuter suburb after World War II.
