Shreveport is on the Red River.

Last stronghold of the Confederacy during the Civil War.

Oil was discovered here in 1906.

The Louisiana Hayride, broadcast here from the Municipal Auditorium over radio station KWKH, helped launch the careers of many country and mainstream music stars, including Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Kitty Wells, George Jones and Elvis Presley
