Miami Beach is on the Atlantic Ocean

The city boomed as an affluent vacation resort in the early 1900s, then began to decline in the 1950s. Preservationists, eager to save older buildings from the wrecking ball, sparked the city's comeback.

Known for its many Art Deco buildings.

Crime: The number of violent crimes recorded by the FBI in 2003 was 1,172. The number of murders and homicides was 6. The violent crime rate was 12.8 per 1,000 people.

Miami Beach received national attention for the 1997 murder of designer Gianni Versace.

Filming location for:
