2006 elections: In the gubernatorial race, California re-elected incumbent Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger over Democrat Phil Angelides, with 55.8% of the vote. For Senate, the state re-elected Democrat Dianne Feinstein over Dick Mountjoy, with 59.7% of the ballot.
Presidential politics: Los Angeles is in Los Angeles County, which voted Democratic in the last two presidential elections. According to unofficial vote totals for 2004, Bush received 971,357 votes and John Kerry received 1,694,579 votes.
In the November 2000 election, Los Angeles County strongly supported Al Gore. Countywide, 871,930 people voted for Bush and 1,710,505 voted for Gore. Nader received 83,731 votes.
Electoral College: California has 55 of the Electoral College's 538 votes.
