Manhattan is a city of contrasts. A conservative town that prides itself on being a good place to raise a family, it has the youngest median age of any of the top 10 small cities. While it ranked low in its class in entertainment and restaurant options, it scored high in the number of book stores and support of public libraries. The university is the major employer, but nearby Fort Riley also employs thousands of civilians.
